Day 3 at last!! We woke up at 4:45am to get camp taken down, our bags packed and dropped off at the trucks, breakfast eaten and in line for the transportation to Skokie. We spent most of the day singing songs and walking. Once we hit Lake Michigan the walk was smooth sailing. It was chilly by the lake but it felt really good!
Soldier field never looked so good! We arrived in a 'holding' area and could barely move. We escaped and found Karen's parents. They told us where our bags were so we gathered them and waited for the closing ceremony.
My good friend Joy and her Mom Terrie came and surprised me. It was so nice to see them!!! Eric called my cell phone and asked where I was and I told him. Next thing I knew he came walking up to me. Eric his Mom and the girls were there to surprise me. I couldn't think of a better way to end my journey!
The drive home was horrible. It seemed like it took forever to get there. When we did get home I unpacked, did some laundry and fell asleep on the couch watching the Olympics.
This 3-day walk was a pretty awesome experience!!

Kristen waited to put her shoes on until we got off the bus.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR DONATIONS, PRAYERS AND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT!!
ps. We burned over 12,000 Calories (we also ate that many or more!)

Congratulations on finishing the walk. I haven't done it myself, but lived vicariously through Amy last year when she did it - I know what an awesome accomplishment this is, and you raised a ton of money for a great cause!
Way to go Laura!!! I'm so proud of you!
Awesome job Laura! We're all very proud of you - and I know your mom is too!
Laura, I'm so proud of you. I'm sure your mother was smiling at you every step of the way. What a wonderful way to honor her. I was confused on the dates, our walk is this weekend.
