Okay... what's next?? it seems that the people who built our house did it as cheap and wrong as it could be done. Now we have an issue with the wood rotting around the garage. I know there is maintenance things we have to do but when the person/people who hung the siding and framed the door missed a couple steps and messed some up.
The white paper is supposed to go all the way down to the garage trim. It seems they forgot to put that last foot and a half on... not to mention there is a lip at the top of the garage trim that is supposed to be at an angle away from the house. It was actually tilted back toward the house and had nails in it, which allowed the water to enter thus causing all the damage.
Hello water damage...
6 hours later all the wood was replaced, sealed and covered. 
Finished with aluminum wrap and is now maintenance free! I think it turned out pretty nice!
